Does RaceTrac pay weekly?

RaceTrac pays employees on a weekly basis. Workers get paid every Friday for the pay period ending the previous week on a Thursday.

This can cause some confusion for new workers. If you are in doubt about the pay periods, ask your human resources department to give you a pay period schedule.

Keep in mind that if you are a new employee who started working on a Monday you will not be paid anything that same Friday. You will be paid the following Friday for the four days you work during the previous pay period which are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

RaceTrac Pay Raises

According to some dissatisfied employees who have worked at RaceTrac, the company is not in the business of giving regular raises to its store associates. Some say they have been working for 1 to 2 years and have not yet received a raise in pay.

Some say that in order to get a raise, you have to get promoted to the next position. There is little doubt that some of these people making complaints have a valid reason to complain but on the other hand, there are some who have not proved they deserve a raise.

How is RaceTrac hourly pay compared to other retail stores?

RaceTrac offers competitive wages for this type of industry. However, the chance to get occasional pay raises does not compare to other retail stores such as Target, Walmart, Costco, etc.

Therefore, if you are going to take a job here, expect to have a hard time getting a pay raise if you stay at the same job classification. The way around this is to be in communication with your management team and stress the fact that you feel you have been a dependable employee and have performed well.

Many times, people don’t get raises because they simply do not communicate their needs.

Break Policy

Many convenience stores find it difficult at times to give employees breaks. RaceTrac is no exception; many workers report there are no breaks during some shifts because of how busy and understaffed the store is.

This is one of the drawbacks of working at a convenience store. The best thing you can do is stay in constant contact with your management team at your store and this will give you a better chance of getting a paid 15-minute break here and there.

Dress Code

RaceTrac issues you a blue polo shirt and a name tag, and you’re expected to buy your own black or khaki pants. You are allowed to wear comfortable tennis shoes or regular non-skid shoes of any color.

You also need to wear a belt and tuck your shirt in with your uniform. Tattoos and ear piercings of pretty much any type are accepted as long as you don’t look offensive to customers.
